This latest release from the Blakheat production team has its fair share of hits and riddim. The title track is delivered by Vincy sensation Kevin Lyttle featuring Mr. Vegas. “Burnin”-1 is the riddim that has a reggaeton feel to it and features two other songs on the riddim for DJ’s to play with. Next is up and coming star Bowmani, the same fella that brought us I Am Soca from last year. This song “Wet”-2 is in one word perfect. Its productions and lyrics are delivery perfectly together to create one sweet tune that has soca classic written all over it. This will definitely make an impact in TnT 2006. From there “Ideal Man”-3 has a young lady asking all the key questions as to whether this singer, Dennis Bowman has what it takes to be her man. Soon after comes “We Eh Tired Yet”-5 by Zonel. This song has to be St. Vincent’s answer to a J’ouvert jam because she ain’t ready to go home yet, very nice. Next up is the distinctive voice of Kevin Lyttle with what will definitely be his next hit in “Home For Carnival”-6. This song reminds us how important it is to represent your homeland as well as attend and appreciate all of the world’s carnival festivals and has classic written all over it as well. Sweet tune man. Mikayla is up next with “Don’t Follow Meh”-7. She is letting us know what she has planned for Carnival day and she doesn’t want to be bothered on her day of celebration.
Overall this CD release has hit after hit for its listeners. It’s good to see small island sound and talent is represented so well with this CD being a definite addition to any soca lovers CD collection. With 6 hits and 3 riddim songs this release gets 3 and a half flags out of 5. I hope others enjoy this CD as much as this reviewer did.
